Playing the game

When Im playing I often want to put my earbuds in and listen to my music. Unfortunately, the music stops when the game is activated. Not good!
Problem is that the music plays sometimes and stops sometimes. Ive loaded and deleted the app several times over the last couple of years and this inconsistency is nerve racking!!
